The Stan Hacking Concert Band was formed by Stan Hacking, an ex-Royal Marines Band Colour Sergeant, over 30 years ago.
Starting with 12 musicians it has since grown to an ensemble of around 60 members with ages ranging from 12 years upwards. The band contains several music teachers and requires all musicians to be at least grade 5 standard or above.
After many years of leading the band, Stan decided to 'hang up his baton' and retire at the end of 2016, although he will continue to have close links with the band. The band will continue to be known as the 'Stan Hacking Concert Band' but is now under the Musical Directorship of Mr Barry Parsons.
The band's aims remain the same: to continue to raise money for charities while having fun making music and providing quality concerts for the public to enjoy.
